Sharkey on Shelf For Three Months With Injured Knee

NEW YORK - Jack Sharkey's plans for a drive to the championship of the heavyweight division were halted today as the Boston strong boy sat in a hotel here, his leg in a plaster cast.

Sharkey was winding up training for the fight with Big Boy Peterson at Boston tonight when he turned on his left knee and tore the cartilage and tendons yesterday.

Dr. W. G. Fralick, who attended him, said he would be forced to wear the cast and walk on crutches for at least six weeks. He will be able to resume light training in about two months, the physician said, but it will be nearly three months before he can return to the ring.
