BY THIS DAY'S MAIL.

HARTFORD, September 24.

We offer to our friends in Connecticut and throughout the union our sincere congratulations, on the issue of the late election. It is ascertained that the number of democratic representatives will be less than it has been for the last three years. The following statement will be found nearly or quite correct:

: Federal majority, :

The large county of Litchfield merits the thanks of all good men for their noble exertions in the cause of true freedom. That not a single town should have returned a democratic member, was not to be expected when it was considered that all the arts of jacobism have been employed to seduce that respectable section of our State. Our return of votes for the nomination will not enable us to state the result with precision. It is however certain that the federalists have in every instance succeeded, and the majority probably will be about the same as at the election in September, 1805. Thus Connecticut has resisted her assailants from abroad and triumphed against the machinations of her enemies at home. She moves on, and will continue to move on in her elevated course--Her citizens are freemen, and freemen they will remain.
