Full Text

Moving for the Iowa Lands.

Guthrie, Ok., June 4.—Governor Steele has returned from his trip around the territory, and will probably give out the official plums to the various seekers after county offices. The rush for the Iowa lands is already setting in. One of the largest movements for its settlement is that of local Knights of Labor lodges. They are sending circulars to their brother knights in all parts of the country, and from the promises already received, seem to be sure of having a colony of 5,000 or 6,000 to enter the land and take up a townsite, and all adjoining claims. It is known as the Brotherhood Townsite Colony company, and has the endorsement and support of the national council of Knights of Labor. Other colony companies are also getting ready for a rush and are sending experts to go over the land and find the best claims and most available townsites. Besides these, many boomers are going through the country nominally hunting, but really looking up homes for themselves.
