Full Text

As the season for bad roads approaches, we hear many complaints respecting the condition of the public roads in this county. We learn that the stage road between this place and Marseilles is in a very bad condition-that nearly all the bridges are worn out and going to decay and that no work has been done on the road for a length of time. The same complaints are heard from other parts of the county, and it is said to be well understood by teamsters and others travelling the roads, that La Salle county does less towards keeping the roads in repair than any other county in this section of the state.

This should not be so, and we hope the County Commissioners will take prompt action in the matter. A heavy road tax is levied and collected annually, and if properly managed these complaints need not exist.
