The Ministers of the Ecclesiastical Princes are using their utmost efforts to prevent the execution of the article of the treaty of peace concerning secularizations.

It appears that they have received from their Constituents orders to unite; and to avert by measures taken in conjunction with each other, the storm which threatens them. The Elector of Cologne and the Bishop of Wurtzburg seem desirous of putting themselves at their head. It is in contemplation to make a formal protest against general secularizations. We are assured they will send deputies to Vienna, Paris and Berlin, to demand that the Princes and States disposed on the left bank of the Rhine shall be indemnified on the right bank by the empire in general; and that each state shall contribute its quota towards the indemnification. It is also proposed to apply to the Emperor of Russia to intercede in their behalf, since if the principle of general secularization should be adopted, the German Constitution would be annihilated. They propose particularly to represent to the court of Vienna, that they have always been its support, and that by their suppression it will lose the greater part of its influence in the Empire. On the other hand, the Austrian government demands that a deputation of two Members of the Diet shall co-operate in the negotiations relative to indemnities; it is desirous that the Electors of Mentz and Saxony should be nominated to the deputation: but the King of Prussia is equally desirous to co-operate and to be a member of the deputation.
