SCHIPHOL AIRPORT, AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands (A)—Queen Juliana of The Netherlands cheered by thousands of her subjects—left by plane today for a month's visit to the United States and Canada.
The 43-year-old monarch's four-engine Constellation left the sunny, cow-patched airfield just before noon. The Queen is due in Washington at 4 p.m. EST, tomorrow, after an overnight "beauty sleep" stop in Gander, Newfoundland.
Travelling with her are her husband, Prince Bernhard, Dutch Foreign Minister Dirk U. Stikker and 11 others.
Juliana's program will keep her almost constantly on the go, flying most of the way across the United States. Besides a Washington visit, there are such items as three days in New York, with the riotous welcome only Gotham can give, a trip to Norris Dam in the Tennessee Valley, and four days among the auto plants and tulip fields of Michigan.
Only the Easter week end is set aside for rest. Then the Queen will be at Sea Island, Ga., between her jaunt to Norris Dam and the flight to Detroit.
