Full Text
Bristol District Election.
We this day publish a communication from a Correspondent residing in the county of Bristol, Mass. on the subject of the pending canvass for a representative to represent that District in the Congress of the United States. Separated as we are by geographical lines from our Massachusetts neighbours, perhaps we may be considered somewhat obtrusive, when we open our columns to the consideration of any of their political transactions, and we confess that we have some strong objections against doing so. But as we fortunately have many patrons in that section of Massachusetts, some of whom have solicited the use of our columns to aid them in the approaching canvass, we have given way to the solicitation of our friends, and now publish the Communication signed 'Elector.' In doing this, we wish to have it distinctly understood, that we of ourselves take no part in the contest, and that our columns are open to the friends of the several competitors; but at the same time we respectfully ask those who avail themselves of this offer to make their communications as concise as possible, as they cannot in any event particularly interest our state subscribers, who constitute the larger proportion of our support.
