HIGH AVERAGES AT M'DOWELL

LITERARY SOCIETY WILL HAVE MEETING ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

The regular examinations have been in progress at McDowell school during the past few days and it is the pride of the faculty and the pupils that although many of them had to come quite a distance from the country there was not a pupil absent during the zero weather.

The highest averages for the grades are, second grade, Margaret Bussell, 99; third grade, Mayhew Derryberry, 99; fourth grade, Margaret Cecil, 96; fifth grade, Lucile Joyce, 89; sixth grade, William Burns, 96; seventh grade, Jackson Nicholson, 85 5-7.
