AT ROTARY MEET;
CUB SCOUTS, TOO
Rotarians Will Invite Army Basketball and Rifle Teams to Compete
Today was ministers day at the Juneau Rotary Club, with three ministers who recently arrived at Alaska's Capital City addressing the members.
First speaker was Rev. Willis Booth, new pastor at the Northern Light Presbyterian Church, who told the Rotarians he had been a Rotary member in Kentucky before coming to Sitka more than a year ago. He said he heard of the Juneau Rotary club before leaving there to come north.
The other ministers who spoke were Rev. G. H. Hillerman, new pastor of the Resurrection Lutheran Church, and Rev. W. H. Matthews, minister of the Methodist Church.
A feature of the meeting was the appearance of Cortis Wingerton and Fred Sorri, Cubmaster and assistant, respectively, of the new Cub Scout Packs being organized by Rotarians in Juneau. With them were three of the Juneau Cubs, Robert Howell, Robert McCully and Billy Johnson, who presented a skit in which they explained the purposes of Cub Scouts and regretted the fact that the Juneau Packs do not possess an American flag. This predicament was immediately remedied by Highway Patrolman Dan Ralston, who presented a flag to the boys in behalf of the Juneau Rotarians.
It was suggested by Brownie the Barber, through Charles Beale, that the club invite basketball teams and rifle teams from Chilkoot Barracks to come to Juneau next spring to compete in annual tournaments here.
