Full Text
Morgan. On Thursday last, Lieut. Gov. Pitcher sent a message to the senate of New-York, on the subject of the anti-masonic excitement, in that state and the outrage which produced it. He says "it is believed by many that Morgan is murdered, and it is certain that, if alive, he is held in captivity." As all efforts to bring the offenders to justice have been unavailing, he recommends the appointment of a person for the special purpose of investigating the criminal transaction in relation to the removal of Morgan : that he be invested with power to examine witnesses, enter complaints, conduct criminal prosecutions, &c. Lieut. Gov P. says "the apprehensions of our fellow citizens never can or ought to be satisfied until justice is obtained."
