Johnson Is Indicted,
Vicksburg, Miss., July 21.—S. L. Johnson was indicted for the murder of Elston Brewer of Cave City, Arkansas, which occurred here on a houseboat, today. He was arraigned, and upon instructions from Circuit Judge Mounger, a plea of not guilty was entered. Johnson's attorneys, it is understood, will make an effort to keep Johnson's confession from the jury, claiming it was extorted from him. The trial will be resumed tomorrow, when Johnson's attorneys will probably submit a motion for continuance.
