Mr. and Mrs. John Mann returned last night from California.
Mrs. Mann left the city for California in December, and her stay in that state has been very beneficial to her health, and the visit was thoroughly enjoyed.
Mr. Mann left here about the middle of April. He attended the head camp convention of the Woodmen of the World at Los Angeles, as a delegate from Colorado. He states that the convention was a great gathering and he met Woodmen from every part of the country.
In speaking of California, Mr. Mann says that it is a fine country to look upon, an ideal country in which to spend a vacation, but he has no desire whatever to live there. Says he would enjoy spending a month or two each year in the state. California is not the place for a poor man to get a start in business. A man that goes into the country with plenty of money can be successful in business; but the man without money has a hard struggle.
The weather during Mr. Mann's stay has been superb. He spent about three weeks in Los Angeles. There he saw T. C. Hickman and family, and other former Grand Junction people. Mr. Hickman is doing well in the lumber business and the family is well pleased with their new location.
Mr. Mann has been out of the city five weeks, and returns in good health and greatly refreshed from his long vacation.
