PORTSMOUTH, May 9.
On Thursday last the Hon. JOHN LANGDON, Senator of the United States, set out from his seat in this town, on his way to Philadelphia, to attend his duty in Congress. We sincerely wish him a prosperous and safe journey—this worthy statesman, and friend of the people, for the last twenty years of his life, which has been employed in important stations; has discovered a clearness of judgment in public business—openness and candor in his conduct that will hand his name down to posterity, as the patriot and honest man.
