JUDGE TALBOT OF THE SUPREME COURT
May Be Induced to Become a Candidate for Governor on the Democratic Ticket
Now that the political pot is beginning to simmer, various candidates are being suggested as "just the man" who can carry the Democratic banner to victory at the next general election.
Elko county has a plethora of good men who would fill the governor's chair with grace and dignity.
Among the number may be mentioned the names of Senator Thomas Hunter, who is considered to be one of the strongest men in the state. Senator Coryell has a strong following and would make a strong candidate, John Henderson would make an ideal candidate and an excellent governor if he could be induced to make the race. Judge Geo F Talbot of the Nevada Supreme Court would make an admirable candidate. It is argued that his nomination would unite the discordant elements in the party and that a United Democracy would result in Talbot's election by a very decisive majority, While his office duties keep him in Carson City he is still a resident of Elko County and he would make a most acceptable candidate to the eastern part of the State.
The Independent has no means of knowing Judge Talbot's views on the matter but it is assured that he could carry this county by an overwhelming majority in the primary and at the election if he should decide to enter the contest.
