HOSPITAL AUTHORITIES TRY TO LEARN IDENTITY OF DECEDENT.

The authorities at the Rhode Island hospital are very anxious to establish the identity of a man who died at that institution on Monday morning of pneumonia, and who gave his name as Michael McGill of No. 94 Atwell's avenue. The address has proved to be fictitious and it is thought that the name may also be fictitious.

The man went to the hospital last Thursday alone, and said that he had sustained an injury to his chest by being struck by some heavy object at an iron foundry near by. The surgeons found no external signs of such an injury, but found that the man was suffering from pneumonia, and he was put under medical treatment for that disease. He grew rapidly worse until the seriousness of his condition made it advisable to notify his relatives, so the police of the Fourth station were asked to tell Mrs. Michael McGill of 94 Atwell's avenue that her husband was in a critical condition. No such person was found and no one in the neighborhood knew Michael McGill.

The man told the registry clerk at the hospital that he was born in Ireland and was 44 years old. The description given of the man says he weighed about 150 pounds and stood five feet and five inches. He had gray eyes and there was a scar on the left side of his forehead.
