PARIS, June 9.-Billie Burke has captured Paris as she captured London, in "Love Watches." Her daintiness was irresistible.
Paris demanded to see her in a new play. She can speak French but poorly. Paris didn't care: it still cried for Billie Burke.
Chas. Frohman is too versatile to permit a little thing like ignorance of a language to stand in the way of one of his stars. He commissioned Robt. de Flers and de Gaillavet, the authors of "Love Watches" to write a new play for Billie Burke.
In this play she will be a madcap, dare-devil, irresponsible, unconventional American girl who doesn't speak French at all. All the other characters in the play will speak French. Can you beat that for ingenuity? The play opens in Paris in March.
Later it goes to the United States, but there all the minor characters will speak English, and Billie Burke will speak French. Also, can you beat that?
BILLIE BURKE.
