Full Text
Attorney M. S. Bonnifield has been notified by the Clerk of the Supreme Court, that the judgement of the District Court in the One-hand Jim case has been affirmed by the Supreme Court. Jim is a Piute Indian who killed Andrew Kinnegar on Willow creek a year ago last August. He was tried in the District Court here and sentenced to be executed last January. His counsel, as a matter of form, appealed the case to the Supreme Court and that tribunal has now affirmed the decision of the lower court. It now remains for the District Court to fix a day to execute the sentence and, unless the Board of Pardons interpose, Jim will be hanged. What effect that will have upon the Indians remains to be seen.—(Silver State.)
