CATHOLIC PETITION.

On the 10th of Mar. Ld. Granville moved, in the British house of lords, that they should immediately resolve themselves into a committee of the whole to consider the petition of the Roman Catholics. The motion was supported by lord Grenville, earl Spencer and lord Holland, and opposed by lord Hawkesbury, the duke of Cumberland, lord Sidmouth, lord Mulgrave, earl Camden, the bishop of Durham, lord Redesdale and the earl of Limerick. The debate was interrupted by a motion to adjourn to the 13th, which was carried. A petition from the city government of Dublin against the Catholic petition was presented to the H. of Commons, May 9.
