Full Text
Two bridges on the state highway between Winslow and Holbrook, one at Tanner and the other at Manila Wash, being built under contract by the McMillan Construction Company, are nearing completion, particularly the bridge at Tanner wash is almost three-quarters finished and should be ready for traffic in the next couple of weeks.
The Manila bridge is not so near completed, however, work of driving the piles having just been finished and pouring of cement will start as soon as the work of pouring on the approach ends at Tanner is finished. It is the aim of the contractors to finish both bridges before the heavy summer rains set in.
Further on toward Holbrook the state highway department is building a rip-rap wall on the west side of the river to protect the bridge structure there from the onslaught of floods that will result from the heavy summer rains.
Work of resurfacing on several sections between here and Holbrook is under way and badly needed in many other places, according to travellers.
Two bad stretches on each end of the highway, one at the entrance of the city limits in Winslow and the other in Holbrook, are sadly in need of maintenance and surfacing, and so far no intention as to their repair has been announced
