Reports Show 1944 Company's Best Year
The Stockholders of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company held their annual meeting at the Home Office of the Company in Atlanta, Georgia, May 2, 1945. The outstanding features of the meeting were the excellent reports made by the Officers, said to be the best in the history of this Institution, and congratulatory messages from resident and non-resident Stockholders.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
President N. B. Herndon, under whose administration Atlanta Life has grown from a corporation with assets slightly above a million dollars in 1927, to a corporation whose admitted assets as of December 31, 1944, were $9,928,872.85, reported that 1944 had been the greatest year in the history of the Company.
In a quiet, unassuming, sincere manner, he stated that he realized the sacredness of the responsibility that rested upon him as President. He assured the Stockholders that it was his highest ambition not only to see that the Institution was kept safe during his life time but also to see that Atlanta Life was perpetuated after he has passed off the scene.
He said, 'Every night I get on my knees and ask the guidance and protection of our Heavenly Father for Atlanta Life and its workers. It is not necessary for me to make a long speech as everyone knows the quality of service that the Officers and Employees are rendering the public. I am proud to be connected with the Atlanta Life. I want you to know that I appreciate from the bottom of my heart what each and everyone has done: Stockholders, Officers, Field and Home Office Employees and the general public. I am with you one hundred per cent and I know that you are with me. With this fine spirit of teamwork, we shall move forward.'
The highlights of the President's report show: (1) Premium Income for 1944 $5,370,195.25. (2) Admitted Assets $9,928,872.85; (3) Insurance in Force $101,182,383.00; (4). Payments to Policyholders $1,384,003.44; (5) Surplus to Policyholders $2,542,908.58.
