Japanese Veteran
Loses Hootch

S. Nagahama, a Japanese restaurant proprietor of 442 Broadway, told the judge this morning that he had taken advantage of an opportunity to buy several bottles of Canadian whiskey at a reasonable price, and the judge promptly added $200 to the amount. And in addition Nagahama lost the liquor for the whiskey was confiscated by the police.
The liquor was found by Patrolman Van Bezel and a federal agent hidden under a counter in the restaurant when they visited the place.
Nagahama told the court that he kept the liquor only for his own use and to give to friends.
It was also brought out at the arraignment that Nagahama lost a leg while in France, fighting for the United States in the World war.
