H. L. Brown, Who Furnishes Scenery and Under Whose Direction It Will Be Given, Arrives in City--First Rehearsal Held Last Night.
From Thursday's Daily.
The first rehearsal of "The Elk's Tooth," the comic opera, which will be presented at the Babcock theater October 5 and 6 under the auspices of the local lodge of Elks took place last night. H. L. Brown, under whose direction the piece will be given arrived in the city yesterday morning and immediately held a consultation with the committee of the lodge, which will have charge of the affair.
"The Elk's Tooth" requires forty people to properly present it. The scenic effects are said to be quite lavish, while the lines sparkle with wit and the songs are of the catchy kind that one sings long after the play has been presented.
"The Elk's Tooth" was presented here two years ago with great success by the local lodge under the direction of Mr. Brown. The piece as presented this year is entirely different. It has been completely revised, the lines changed and new scenery secured.
Mr. Brown and the committee assigned parts to a number of well known singers in Billings yesterday and more parts will be assigned today.
