EDITOR REVIEWS 'S PROGRESS MADE BY SCHOOL PAGE JESSIE MAE FRIDY GIVES AIMS AND POLICIES OF HILLTOP

Now, that another year's work is over and we have come to the parting of the way, I stop and look back over the year and wonder if any progress in the Hilltop has really been made. I wonder if the reporters have learned from experience any lessons that will be of value to them. There are rumors that there will be a Journalism department in school next year. This seems almost too good to be true and I only regret that they did not have it this term.

The Hilltop has been published weekly, beginning this term in the last of September. It has been a paper for and by the students of Hernando High. It is a school paper to foster school spirit, to give experience in "acting on one's own," and to relate to the public the school events and affairs.

Each year new students come into high school and each year these students select their outside work. Some choose the work with the paper. Each year they have new problems to confront and each year they are better prepared to face them. And so it is, the coming term has better possibilities than the previous one and thus the work progresses.

I have certainly enjoyed all four years of my newspaper work and above all my last year. As editor, I realize that the success of the Hilltop is due to the cooperation I have had with the reporters and the faculty and the printing office. I wish to thank the entire office force of the Herald and Journal (combined) for all the time and pains they have taken for us. I assure you, of the office, that it was most appreciated. And to you, reporters, I thank you much for all your help and I hope you will give your future editor, Eloise Cockfield, as much cooperation as you have me. I wish you all the luck in the world for next year. Faculty, I thank you also for your work. I will always be proud of being editor of a year of Hilltop.

Jessie Mae Fridy.
