DELEGATES BE HELD
SEPTEMBER 21.
Oklahoma City, Sept. 6.—Call for a democratic state convention to be held in Oklahoma City, September 24 for adoption of a platform enunciating the principles of democracy on which the democratic nominees will go before the voters in the coming November election was issued by the democratic state central committee here yesterday.
Precinct caucuses for the selection of delegates to county conventions will be held in county precincts at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and in city precincts at 8 o'clock at night on September 17. County conventions for the selection of delegates to the state convention will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, September 21.
The state convention will be called to order at 10 o'clock, probably in the Auditorium on the morning of September 24.
Delegates Will Total Thousand.
Apportionment of delegates to the several counties, based on the number of democratic votes cast in the recent primary, give approximately 1,000 delegates to the state convention, which is practically the same as four years ago.
With complete harmony, characteristic of post primary democratic pow-wows in Oklahoma, dominating its every move, the committee organized with the selection of Ben LaFavette of McIntosh county, chairman, succeeding Alger Melton of Chickasha, who did not aspire to re-election. LaFavette had no opposition when voting time came and he was elevated to the leadership of his party by acclamation.
Other Officers.
R. E. Echols, former state senator of Elk City, who was mentioned in connection with the chairmanship in the early gossip on selections Wednesday night was elected vice chairman and George I. Bowman, whose name was also linked with the chairmanship, was made secretary.
D. B. Welty, Oklahoma county; Dr. C. I. Reeder, Shawnee; J. A. Tillotson, Nowata; Judge Harry L. Fogg, El Reno and Vice Chairman Echols constitute the new executive committee.
