Facts To Remember (Continued from Page 5)
and more cuts are anticipated in the new revision of the internal revenue code.
The Federal deficit in the year ending June 30 was less than one-third the size of the deficit forecast by the Democrats when they mapped financial plans for the 1954 fiscal year. A $13 billion cut in the Truman budget was made and spending trimmed during the year.
While Michigan's governor sat at Mackinac Island, not daring to enter the Detroit milk strike because his CIO-PAC bosses were involved, children were deprived of milk and Michigan farmers had to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of milk. That economic loss to the farmers never can be made up.
Although Democrats argued that lifting Federal controls would lead to runaway inflation, the inflationary spiral was halted and prosperity maintained when wage and salary controls, consumer price controls and other Federal regulations on business were lifted.
The Eisenhower Administration scorecard on handling subversives: 41 Communist Party leaders convicted; 20 under indictment; seven newly arrested; 62 groups added to the Justice Department's subversive list for a total of 255; one person convicted of treason, two for spying, 11 for false statements to the government or perjury; 84 alien subversives deported; 263 others ordered deported; denaturalization proceedings begun against 24 naturalized aliens charged with subversion; 127 alien subversives denied entry to the United States. More than 2,400 persons were separated from the Federal payroll after security reviews since May, 1953, the great majority inherited from the Democrat regime.
The sharp slide in farm income under the Democrats has been brought to a halt. During the last two years of Democrat rule, farm parity relation (of prices farmers receive to what they pay for goods) toppled 19 points, or 17 per cent. In 1953-54, they held steady.
