Twenty Million Feet of Logs Scattered Among the Apostles' Islands.

ASHLAND, Wis., April 28.—The heavy gale which swept Lake Superior Tuesday night was disastrous to the lumbermen whose booms of logs were in exposed positions along Chequamagon bay. Over twenty million feet of logs are now scattered among the Apostle Islands, the booms having been broken by the fury of the storms. Many of the logs were driven out into the lake. It is now believed that only a small percentage can be saved when the storm subsides. A rough estimate of the loss placed it at over $100,000. Pike & Drake, whose booms contained 12,000,000 feet, are the heaviest sufferers.
