Chicken Thieves.

There is a crowd of forty or fifty bad boys living in the Twenty-first Ward who are considered by the neighbors as unmitigated nuisances. Their last exploit in the thieving line occurred last Friday when they made a raid on the O. & M. freight cars and stole a dozen chickens.

Officers Sargent, Haggerty and Pfitzer succeeded in overhauling six of the thieves, and they were fined $50 and costs each by Judge Lindemann this morning.

Their names are Anthony Smith, Fred. Howers, John Sullivan, John Bode, Tim. Clifford and Dennis Mahoney.

It being stated to the Judge that the latter youngster was the one who furnished the information which led to the detection of the party, $40 of his fine was remitted.
