Eighteen members composing the delegation of the League of Nations sent to the Orient to attempt to secure peace between China and Japan, arrived at New York on the liner Paris last night and now are speeding across the continent on a fast train.
They will cross the Pacific and attempt to mediate between the two warring nations. Which will be quite all right so far as Japan is concerned, because they will have possession of everything they want before the delegation reaches Tokio.
When it comes to argument, these Europeans will find the Japanese and the Chinese as well quite expert. The fact still remains that a big gun is the most effective voice for peace. Which just naturally gets us all muddled up trying to decide these wars and disarmament conferences and League of Nations policies all at the same time.
