RICHMOND, MARCH 27.—The testimony in the case of Alexander Lithgow, (charged with embezzling the funds of the Farmers' Bank,) closed on Monday about two o'clock—when Mr. P. N. Nicholas rose to address the jury on behalf of the prosecution. Mr. N. closed about 6 o'clock. Yesterday, gen. Taylor spoke in behalf of the accused about 5 hours—and was followed by Mr. Chapman Johnson on the same side, who spoke till 8 last night. The argument for the prisoner being closed, the attorney general—will conclude the case, this morning on the side of the prosecution.

MARCH 28.—Yesterday Mr. John Robertson, the attorney general closed the argument, in Alexander Lithgow's case, on the side of the prosecution. About half past 4 o'clock the jury retired, and some time after returned into court saying that they had not agreed in a verdict, and asked to be kept together. We understand that then the counsel for the accused moved the court to instruct the jury on certain points—which the court took time to consider.
