Full Text

From the Public Ledger, London, Oct. 21.

Oh! the Bomb has burst in North-America,
and the Stamp-Distributors are, by the ex-
plosion, all blown out of their places. What a
miscarriage of policy has this proved to the good
old Woman the late budget-monger & Financier,
who is now become roused in the funds as to be
disgraced, as a politician, for ever.

Poor Messieurs Anti-Sejanus, Detector and Co.
(writers in favor of the late ministry) what, in the
name of wonder, will become of your mighty ma-
stters and their cause? Their darling project blown
up, now annihilates all hope; for the people who
only despised them before, begin now heartily to
hate them: O that their case is at length become
a most desperate one indeed.

What, Gentlemen, let me ask you, can you have
farther to say for your Masters? You have all got
upon a quick-sand, and your bark of a cause must
quite bulge. I know but of one expedient left
you to try for saving it, and that is, by roundly
asserting the American Mobs have been spirited
up by the present administration; which will at
least appear as plausible as that which was said to
have been used on a similar occasion, which was,
that the Favourite had spirited up the late Spital-
fields mob.
