NEW LONDON, Dec. 26.
IN every point of view, the present crisis is highly interesting; it is devoutly to be wished, and the public voice is for honorable Peace with all the World.
"The ear is pain'd,
The soul is sick with every day's report,
Of wrong and outrage with which this
earth is fill'd.
There is no flesh in man's obdurate heart,
It does not feel for man.
Lands intersected by a narrow frith,
Abhor each other. Mountains interposed,
Make enemies of nations who had else
Like kindred drops been mingled into one."
