Negro Reports For Football at Integrated School

Norfolk, Va., (CNS) - 16 year old Andrew Heidelberg, a Negro youth, is posing an interesting problem to Norview High School. He has become the first of his race to report for varsity football at one of Virginia's newly integrated schools.

It's too early to tell yet if Heidelberg makes the team but it's not too early to speculate. The school's 10 game schedule would be threatened should he be a member, for the Virginia Legislature passed a resolution in 1958, discouraging integrated public school sports.

Now, Norview can get around this since the Legislature did not forbid integrated sports - providing it wants to.
