Miss Elizabeth Thomas, formerly of this city and a sister of Laurence Thomas, has resigned the position of director of the religious education department of the Episcopal diocese of Michigan, effective Sept. 1. Miss Thomas went to Detroit in 1924 as assistant director to Rev. Ernest E. Piper, also of Ypsilanti, and became chief director when Mr. Piper, now rector of St. Mathias Church, Detroit, was ordained to the ministry. Among the divisions of the religious educational work Miss Thomas has superintended are the annual Cranbrook Summer Conference, the annual Girls' Conference, the Lenten Roundtable Fellowships, the Church School Service Program, parish and regional teacher institutes and schools in Detroit and Saginaw.
