Knight Heads V.I. Parochials

The Association of V. I. Parochials, of New York, opened its fall program, by electing Lionel A. Knight, as first chairman of the permanent organization.

The permanent body emerged from the previous committee, which was organized to raise funds for Sts. Peter & Paul High School. Others officers elected are: Mrs. Graciela Taylor, Vice-Chairman; Mrs. Ira Miller, Recording Sec; Mr. Leroy Abramson, Financial Secretary-Treasurer. Three persons admitted to associate membership, in the Virgin Islands are: Miss Enid M. Baa, Miss Elise Vialet, and Mr. Ullmont James. Other New York members are: Mrs. Louise Blake Guirty, Mrs. Rita Brunn Martin, Mrs. Ione Sixto Thompson, and Mr. J. Godfrey Nibbs. Activities of the group are directed by R. Vanderpool. Miss Elsie Steele, is Secretary general.

Mr. Knight, a native of St. Thomas, served as chairman of the Virgin Islanders of New York Fund, (for Sts. Peter & Paul High School). A former parishioner of St. Peter & Paul, he also attended the parochial schools in St. Thomas. He is a veteran of World War II.

Plans were made for the third annual Reunion Ball, of the organization, which will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Diplomat, New York City, on February 20, 1959.
