Great Fire at Laconia, N. H.
Loss $150,000.

LACONIA, N. H., Nov. 21. A destructive conflagration occurred here this morning. Twenty-five buildings were burnt, including the Cerro Gordo House, Gove's new block, telegraph and post office, and both newspaper offices. Loss estimated at $150,000. Nearly all the business portion of the village is in ashes. The fire originated in the rear of the Cerro Gordo House, about half past three this morning. The wind was blowing very hard from the north-west, and the flames spread rapidly.

The losers by the fire, as near as can now be ascertained, are John C. Moulton, stock of books, loss $2000: E. C. Moulton, stock of drugs and medicines, $3000; insured $1500; Dr. Stevens and Dr. Sleeper, loss of each unknown; T.J. Whipple, loss on building $1200; Democrat printing office, $1000, insured $400: R. Gove, loss $20,000 on building; J. C. Moulton, dry goods, $2000; insured $1000; E. A. Hibbard, law library, $900, insured $200; Ladies' Circulating Library, $3000, no insurance; Bolton Photographer, loss unknown: J. E. Odlin, stock of books, &c., $2000, insured $1500; W. H. Blair, law library, $400: Dr. Merrill's office, loss unknown; S. W. Saunders, building and stock of tin ware, &c., $4000, insured $1000; L. D. Young, clothing, loss unknown: Cerro Gordo House, owned by Mr. Durrell, loss $5000, no insurance—5 horses, 1 cow and a hog were burned in the hotel stables; G. Cook, sash, doors and blinds, loss heavy, partially insured; Hunkins' box factory, also a pail factory, loss unknown: Mrs. Tucker, building, no insurance: Belknap Corporation boardinghouse, loss $2000 to $3000, insured: R. H. Parker, building and stock, $4000; Frank Harris, shoe dealer, loss unknown: T. D. Somes furniture, $13,000, insured $1500; D. J. Dinsmore, building and stock of harness and trunks, loss unknown; J. E. Odlin, building, $2000: Gade & Russell, $4000, insured $1800: R. Gale, hardware, $3000, insured $1500. B. T. Sanborn, boots, shoes and furs, $700; Otis Beaman, building and stock, loss unknown: Gazette printing office, $1500, insured $600: Hull & Merrill, building and stock, loss unknown; Pitman & Tilton building and stock of groceries, loss unknown; Fulsome & Bosher, $8000 loss over insurance; Charles Lane, insurance agency, loss not known; W. I. Avery, loss on library $500, no insurance; S. E. Young, jeweler, $4000, insured $2000; J. L. Leavitt, dry goods and building, loss on building $6000, insured $2500, loss on stock $7000, insured $3500; Mrs. Chapman, millinery, loss not known; Gas Co., $500, no insurance; C. Ranlett & Co., car factory, $3000, fully insured.

Somes, $1200 in the New England Fire and Mutual, Hartford: Otis Beaman, $400 on building in the Western Massachusetts Co., Pittsfield, Mass., Bailey & Gleason, on boarding house, $100 in Atlantic Co., Hull & Merrill, marble stock, $100 in Atlantic Co., Saunders, on building and stock, $1700 in the Dorchester Co. John C. Moulton, building, $1500 in the Merchants' and Farmers' Mutual, Worcester: J. L. Leavitt, building, $2500 in both Farmers' Mutual and Merchants', Worcester: A. G. Folsom, $2500 each in the Merchants', Farmers' and People's Mutual, Worcester: R. H. Parker, $3300 in Holyoke, Merchants and Farmers' Mutual. D. J. Dinsmore, $1000, Hillsboro' Mutual: Gazette Office, $500 do. The Belknap Mutual Co. of this village had about $7000 on risks.
