Some one recently asked Mrs. Burnett's son Vivian, the original of Little Lord Fauntleroy, what was meant by "society." "Society," said Vivian, "why it's a thing where there's lots of people, who all come to your house, and they come up to your mamma, who is in the drawing room looking very beautiful, in a lovely dress, and they shake hands with her and say, 'Why, how do you do?' and then they gabble, gabble, gabble, gabble, gabble, and then they come up again to your mamma and say, 'Oh, I'm so sorry, but I must go now, good by,' and then they go away, and that's all."-Boston Herald.
