A man named Kelly, a respectable farmer, in easy circumstances, residing in the vicinity of Cooperstown, Otsego county, N. Y. committed a most diabolical murder a few days since upon a man named Spafford, who was working on his farm. In the presence of his wife, by shooting a man by the name of Spafford, who was working on his farm. Some misunderstanding had occurred between them when K. threatened to shoot him, which he too effectually performed. The perpetrator, says the Albany Daily Advertiser, notorious for his irascible temper, being often giving way to the most extreme bursts of passion, and threatening those with whom he was offended with personal violence. What is not a little singular, and goes to show that public executions do not deter from crime, is the fact that this unfortunate victim of ungovernable passion so timed a journey to this city as to be present at the execution of Strang a few days before he committed an act that will in all probability subject him to the like penalty. He knocked a lad into the water at the same time, but the lad saved himself by swimming.
