Full Text

General Jackson has resigned his seat in the Senate of the United States. His letter tendering his resignation is in the Washington City Gazette--and we may, perhaps, publish it. The ground upon which it is put is, that, being presented by the Legislature of Tennessee as a candidate for the next Presidency, he could not with propriety take part in the discussions concerning the proposed amendments to the constitution of the United States regulating the choice of electors of President. General Jackson may therefore be considered as formally accepting the nomination of the Legislature of Tennessee, and as in the field for the next Presidency.
