ANNOUNCEMENT.
In obedience to the popular demand, the management of the Democrat has decided to reduce the city subscription price by carrier, after January 1st, to fifty cents per month, thus at once placing the paper before the public at the same rate as charged by the leading metropolitan journals East and West. Facilities will be greatly enlarged and additional columns added as soon as the necessary mechanical arrangements can be perfected. The advertising department will be carefully superintended, so that not even among the business announcements will be found any cause for complaint from the most sensitive patron. The Democrat is assured of liberal support in its effort to place before the citizens of Utah and the surrounding States and Territories, a live, earnest, dignified and reliable journal, devoted to Democratic principles, the development of home industries, and the general interest of the city and Territory. The liberal policy in regard to the local subscription rates is adopted in response to the oft repeated wish of the citizens of Salt Lake City for a live journal at popular rates. But while the cost to subscribers will be reduced, the expense of publishing the Democrat will be materially increased. New departments will be added, telegraphic and correspondence facilities will be greatly enlarged and such other improvements made as will enhance the value of the paper to subscribing and advertising patrons.
