In a card from W. H. WALKER, published in the Courier of this morning, it is stated that I made an examination of the County records nine years ago, and that I suppressed or failed to publish the result of that examination. I have no information of having at any time been appointed by any official authority to make an investigation of the County records. In the year 1860, I assisted Major BLYTHE HYNES, to investigate the fees, charges and official conduct of a gentleman who was at that time the Sheriff of the County and a candidate for re-election. The result of our investigation was published at length in the Evansville JOURNAL, and also in pamphlet form at the time. I never then, or at any other time, examined into the fees, allowances or official conduct of any other County officer than the one stated. Mr. WALKER has, I think, confounded the Sheriffalty investigation with some other committee, of which I was not a member.
John W. Foster.
