Full Text

Some of the democrats are still unwilling to renounce Mr. Gallatin. The Trenton True American would remember him for the good deeds he has done for this country. That paper says: "He assisted in our struggle for independence in person and in purse."

If we mistake not he landed in Massachusetts in 1782-3, kept a school in the District of Maine; was some time French tutor in Cambridge College. How he handled his purse for American Independence we know not; as at that time there was nothing in it; and the writer may be assured that his person was never where powder does mischief. The American says he was a member of the Senate of the U. States. We do not remember when. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate: When, adverting to the whiskey rebellion and the very active part he took in it, he said--"Daat wazz my great political zin; aand I do zinzarely beg pardong of my country."
