"When Horace Jones called at the house, knocked on the door for five or ten minutes and F. K. McLaughlin came to the door. He, Horace Jones, asked McLaughlin what in the hell he was doing at a Negro house locked up with a Negro woman. McLaughlin shut the front door. About five minutes later, McLaughlin returned with a 32-20 Smith and Wesson pistol accompanied by Leola Slaughter. He pointed the gun at Horace Jones telling him that if he did not leave he would shoot. Jones grabbed the weapon and they began to tussle. The fight was joined by Leola Slaughter who was aiding McLaughlin and the two overpowered Jones and seriously wounded him."
