New Discovery of Land in Randolph.—Some of our citizens grumbled at the late valuation law, but we perceive it has brought to light upwards of thirty three thousand acres of taxable land never before heard of in the finances of the country. The number of acres listed for taxation in the year 1836 was 402,075, valued at $7,409.78; the quantity in 1837, under the new law, was 435,300 acres, valued at $8,850.35,—showing an increase of 33,294 acres, and a larger amount of valuation by $1,440.56. The average valuation per acre was $1.81; now it is $2.03. The increase of valuation in town property is $5,677, viz: from $10,991 to $16,671. The total valuation of real estate in this county is now $901,705 including town property. The number of White Polls is 1,165: Black polls 582, in all 1,747. So that, at 6 cents on the hundred dollars valuation: our land taxes amount to $541.02; our Poll at 20 cents on the Poll to $349.40—making an aggregate revenue to the State of $890.42. The whole revenue raised in Randolph for County and State purposes, at 55 cents on the Poll and 17 cents on the hundred dollars valuation, is $2,493.74.—Ashborough Citizen.
