Two potato growers, Frank Wieler of Joliet, and T. N. Olsen of Roberts, will complete the fertilizer experiments this week, when their crop is harvested and results tabulated.
The experiment, testing the effect of the use of treble super phosphate and ammoniated phosphate, was made by the State Experiment Station and the County Extension Service, cooperating with the growers mentioned.
The use of phosphate placed at the same depth as the seed piece, by means of regular fertilizer attachments, has resulted in a far greater per cent of number one grade potatoes in practically all other sections where the project has been tried, and the results in Carbon County will be watched with a great deal of interest as it will mean quite an increase in the marketable yields if the results are as beneficial here as elsewhere.
Mr. Harrington, from the Montana Experiment Station, will be present to assist in the checking of the results of this experiment at digging time Monday at the Frank Wieler place, and Tuesday at the T. N. Olsen ranch.
