LA CROSSE TEAM PULLS COUP

"Minny" Club Signs "Young Cy" Young of Lake Shore League.

La Crosse, Wis., March 9.—President Henry Rooney of the La Crosse club of the "Minny" league believes he has turned a trick on the other league clubs by signing up "Young Cy" Young, who last year was premier pitcher in the Lake Shore league. Several managers had been after Young but La Crosse landed him on a salary proposition.

Young made his "start" at the University of Wisconsin about five years ago, where he pitched remarkable ball President Rooney has also signed up Fred Rice, a southpaw, of the Milwaukee City league, and Charles Watson an old player.
