Full Text
The wars on the continent of Europe (says a late French paper) are for the present drawing to a close. Whether a permanent peace (which humanity wishes and philosophy prescribes) will take place, is a problem of difficult solution. It is rather to be presumed, that while a remnant of monarchy, or the monarchial principle exists among mankind, the miserable system of blood and warfare will prevail in an exact ratio, to the continuance of that absurd scheme of governing mankind. It remains to be seen, whether the efficacy of what is called a Republican Revolution, tending to the harmonization of man, will have at least, a preponderancy in the opposite scale.
