Dainty Petticoats

The two dainty petticoats shown here are made up in white cambric. The first has a shaped flounce, slightly gathered at the top, where it is fixed to the petticoat under a narrow crosswise band stitched at each edge; the lower edge is embroidered, and above the embroidery a band of lace insertion is sewn on. The camisole has a band of piece embroidery on the bust that is carried to the waist each side the front; the edge is trimmed with insertion and torchon lace, the insertion threaded by ribbon that is tied in a bow in the front.

Materials required for the petticoat: Four yards 40 inches wide, four yards insertion; for the camisole: 1/4 yard 36 inches wide, one yard piece embroidery 18 inches wide, four yards lace, one and quarter yard insertion.

The second is made to touch the ground all round. The flounce is trimmed with two rows of insertion, with tucks between, and is put on under a heading of insertion: the edge of flounce is trimmed with muslin embroidery four inches wide.

Materials required: five yards 40 inches wide, about 14 yards insertion, six yards embroidery.

The camisole has a round yoke of lace, and is intended to be worn under transparent blouses; the puffed sleeves are finished with lace edging.

Materials required: One and half yard 36 inches wide, half yard piece lace, one and half yard lace edging.
