Full Text

James Montgomery, the celebrated poet, who has for thirty-one years conducted the Sheffield Iris, relinquished the editorship of that paper about the first of October. Mr. M. has encountered many of the miseries attendant on his profession, and has suffered much, we believe, from poverty. In his concluding address he states, what his contemporaries will all do him the justice to believe, that 'from the beginning, he took one ground--a plain determination --come wind or sun, come fire or flood, to do what is right.'--Boston Courier.
