Oil exploration equipment sent to Icy Bay.

SEATTLE (AP) — A barge laden with a big drilling rig, casing and other supplies left Seattle last night for the Icy Bay area in Alaska, where the Phillips Petroleum Co. is seeking oil.

The barge was towed by the tug Agnes Foss.

The Phillips company, operator of the joint properties of Phillips and Kerr-McGee Oil Industries, Inc., in the Katalla-Yakataga area, declined to discuss details of the work.

A company spokesman in Tulsa, Okla., said the supplies were "for continued exploratory drilling operations."
