OFFICERS FRUSTRATE JAIL DELIVERY PLANS.
Williston, N. D., July 8. - The sheriff's force discovered and frustrated an attempt at a jail delivery from the Williams county bastile yesterday afternoon. The prisoners, seven in number, had been given the freedom of the corridor of the building to relieve them from the hot steel cages. One or more of them industriously started removing a ventilator and when discovered they had only one layer of brick to remove to place them at liberty. Their operations were for a time concealed by the use of soaked bread in place of the plaster that they removed. The deception was well nigh perfect and it was only through the exercise of good powers of observation that the plan did not end successfully.
The county commissioners are in session and they will reinforce the entire corridor so as to offer no more temptation to prisoners with the jail destroying propensities.
